Sabato 24 giugno, durante il Locus Awards Weekend a Seattle, presentati da Connie Willis, sono stati assegnati i premi Locus. Votati dai lettori della rivista Locus, i premi Locus sono considerati tra i più prestigiosi del mondo della fantascienza, dopo Hugo e Nebula.

Tra i vincitori interessante notare la nuova affermazione dello scrittore cinese (letto in USA nella traduzione di Ken Liu), Cixin Liu, che si era già fatto notare per il romanzo The Three Body Problem. Tra gli autori più conosciuti in Italia segnaliamo anche Alastair Reynolds (ospite di Stranimondi 2016) nel romanzo young adult, di Joe Hill (figlio di Stephen King) nel romanzo horror, di Ken Liu nell'antologia personale e di Julie Dillon, autrice delle copertine 2017 di Robot, come migliore artista.
