Dopo aver raccolto le schede dei votanti (i lettori che avevano a disposizione le pagine centrali da compilare e spedire, e gli abbonati, che avevano invece la possibilità di votare direttamente online) la rivista Locus, fondata dal compianto Charles N. Brown e adesso diretta dalla sua assistente Liza Groen Trombi, ha diffuso l'elenco dei finalisti delle varie categorie per l'edizione 2010 dell'omomino premio.

I vincitori saranno resi noti durante il Science Fiction Awards Weekend (detto anche Locus Award Weekend) che si svolgerà a Seattle dal 25 al 27 giugno prossimi allo Science Fiction Museum. Durante la manifestazione si terranno anche le cerimonie di investitura dei quattro nuovi prescelti per la Hall of Fame: Roger Zelazny, Octavia Estelle Butler, Douglas Trumbull e Richard Matheson.
